Women’s Transformation
~ Gwilda Wiyaka ~
Over the last hundred and
seventy-one years, women’s issues have been in the spotlight. In 1848, the
first women's rights convention took place at Seneca Falls, New York. Equal
rights and women’s suffrage are still major buzz words today, as American Congresswomen
wore “suffragist-white” to symbolize women’s rights at the 2019 State of the
Union address.
While I do not condone sexual discrimination, whether
against women or men, could it be that, while we as women have been so busy
demanding the perceived rights and respect enjoyed by men, we’re missing the
point?
After one hundred seventy-one years of trying, it
would appear we can’t hope to gain equality and respect from without. What
about cultivating self-respect and honoring of our gifts and differences
as women – from within? What do we have to bring to the equation that can not
only transform our personal lives, but the world?
What would happen if we shifted our approach from one
of demanding equality and respect, to one of showing up and becoming the change
we wish to see? Could the resulting introduction of feminine wisdom benefit
both men and women if we do?
With us this hour to take a deeper look at women’s
empowerment is Dawn Morningstar. Dawn is an award-winning author, master coach,
speaker, educator, and advocate for women’s empowerment. She founded Venerable
Women in 2013 as a sisterhood, philosophy, and movement that emboldens women to
change the world by bringing their wisdom to life. Her life changing program,
Living LOVE (Lives Of Venerable Expression), inspires authentic transformation
so that women can manifest a kind and loving world for all – starting within
themselves.
