Woman’s intuition. We have all heard about it though I’ve found many men to be every bit as intuitive as I. Maybe we as women are just granted more leeway to listen to our intuition. Regardless, when followed, a woman’s intuition can provide insightful guidance, but what about our dreams?

Dreams are an amazing resource often overlooked in our rush to get up and face the many obligations of the day. Yet some of these dreams may offer lifesaving information.

Can we learn to remember our dreams and make use of them? How can we tell if they are prophetic or just processing our experiences? How can we decipher our dreams to unearth the valuable information often available there?

With us this hour to explore the topic is Kathleen O’Keefe-Kanavos. Kathleen has spent years studying and teaching about dreams. A three-time breast cancer survivor whose premonitory dreams diagnosed her cancer, she credits her survival to conventional treatment combined with her dreams as a diagnostic tool. All of her cancers were missed by the medical community and the tests on which they relied. Her knowledge and personal wisdom comes from “the trenches of life,” not from hypothetical theories. The author of Surviving Cancer Land, and her latest co-authored book “Dreams That Can Save Your Life,” Kathleen is also a life guidance coach, and inspirational speaker.

Expression.

It’s fascinating to realize how, as women, our natural expression is stifled from an early age. “Children should be seen, not heard. Don’t whine, act like a big girl. Don’t be so loud, ladies are soft spoken. Don’t chatter so much, it’s not becoming. Quit squirming. Don’t cross your legs, keep your dress down, sit like a lady,” and so on. From the volume and tonal quality of our voice to our body language, we are left with a shadow of our natural expression once (we’ve been?) properly socialized into perfect little ladies.

That’s not to say boys don’t get their share of restrictions. But with them, there is a bit more leeway. After all, “Boys will be boys.”

How do these imposed restrictions impact women trying to make their way in the world? Are we invalidated because we are soft spoken or have high pitched voices? Does our entrained, demure demeanor make us appear weak and ineffectual in historically male arenas? Do we have to emulate men in order to succeed?

Evolving Into the Aquarian Age

So here we are, at the dawning of the Aquarian Age, a time that has been anticipated since the 1800s when the concept of a New Age began. The Age of Aquarius is reputed to bringing unity, spiritual evolution, enlightenment, peace, joy, brotherhood and male/female balance.

However, looking out at the world, I have to say, I don’t see much of the aforementioned going on. In fact, things appear to be coming apart at the seams as cultures clash, economies fail, the environment is in crisis, children are killing children, and war looms large.

So what’s really going on? Where’s the happy-happy joy-joy? What am I missing? What does it really mean to evolve into the Aquarian Age?

Our guest this episode has spent a lifetime contemplating various aspects of this issue, and will no doubt have some interesting thoughts on the subject.
